what are facebook fan pages

What Are Facebook Fanpages?

Posted In Fanpages | No comments

Facebook fan pages or Facebook pages are pages that Facebook allows users to create on a topic of their choosing. There are a few topics that are not allowed such as gambling, illegal activities, hate speech etc. these are pretty much common sense. Otherwise it Facebook is fine with you making pages of whatever topic interests you.

Many businesses use these pages to connect with their customers through Facebook. You see lots of advertisements on television and other media that encourage customers to like us on Facebook. When the customer likes this company on Facebook it is normally liking that companies fan page. The reason companies want you to like their page is that once you have clicked the like button you are then subscribe to their news feed which in turn will show up their posts when you check your Facebook feed.

This is the key to the Facebook fanpages. Companies want to be able to send their messages and advertising to your Facebook feed so you get their advertising message and buy their product or service. It’s really pretty simple and a very effective method of advertising for the companies. There are some studies on line they suggest for major companies that having a Facebook fan can be worth upwards of $.30 per month in additional sales and revenue from that customer.

It is not only big companies that have these Facebook pages. Normal users are allowed to set up pages on topics of their choosing. It could be their favorite hobbies TV shows movies or whatever really. It is understandable why Facebook would encourage this as their goal as a website is to have you spend as much time as possible on Facebook. So by allowing their customers to build up pages that creates more content and more things for people to do and spend time on the site.

By setting up a Facebook fanpage you are effectively becoming a partner with Facebook in providing good content for the customers. Facebook is the highest trafficked website on the Internet and they didn’t get that way by not having good ideas. Facebook pages are a  great idea because they fill a need for content for Facebook’s normal users.

This creates a great opportunity for Internet marketers to make money through building a series of Facebook pages. It is a win-win situation because the marketer is able to build up a customer base and Facebook gets great content that keeps people with in the Facebook system and interacting with the pages. Think of it this way if someone is interested in refinishing deck chairs and that is their hobby, Facebook would surely rather than interact with your Facebook deck chair page then they would have you going to Google and searching for refinishing deck chairs. By creating Facebook pages on these different topic you are helping Facebook become a better site.

In our opinion Facebook pages are one of the greatest opportunities available on the Internet today. So look around and see if this is the golden opportunity for you that we think it is.

Great fanpage examples

Some Great Facebook Fanpages

Posted In Fanpages | No comments

We thought it would be good to show you some examples of great Facebook pages. There are many examples out there of pages that not only engage their followers but also get across the advertisers message very effectively.

Zappos.com is a good example of a very popular and effective page. They have over 152,000 fans (likes) and it seems like the posts that they put up get a really good response from the page followers. It’s the goal of the page to make the customers feel like they are part of the company by posting and commenting right on Facebook.  If you notice up in  the left hand corner that Zappos has a “Fan Of  The Week” this a great way to build camaraderie within the group and give the Fans a real sense of community.

Another nice strategy that Zappos is using on this page is that they are allowing the fans to interact with the page and not just  posting themselves. There are many businesses that are so afraid of a negative comment that they only allow posts from the business to show up on the wall. This is really a mistake because it kills the sense of belonging and social interaction that is the point of the Facebook pages to begin with. If a company is not interacting with the fans and letting people post their own comment, then the page is just an ad and is not getting the response and connection with people that really bonds the advertiser to the customers.

Another great Facebook page is that of movie critic Roger Ebert. This isn’t really a business, but is a great example of a public figure having a great interaction with their customer. In this case the reader of movie reviews.

This page has over 69,000 followers and it gets lots of interaction and feedback from the readers. This is another example where the owner of the page. In this case Roger Ebert, is allowing the followers to interact and post on the wall. There is lots of good content and Roger seems to share his thoughts on movies and related topics. He is not selling anything directly but is certainly building his brand and presence as the go to movie reviewer. This is just a great example of using the power and traffic of Facebook.

The next example is just a random business that was running an ad that I clicked on. The name of the business is Harry Gaunt Jewelers. The page has lots of good interaction between the business owner Harry Gaunt and his fans and customers. There are tons of pictures, there are some fun posts about peoples dog, and folks on this page seem to be interacting with each other and the business in  fun and social way. I am sure when these fans need Jelwery in their area, the Harry Gaunt Jewelery store is going to be where they buy.

All the best Facebook pages have a few things in common. They all understand the social aspect of Facebook and are getting their followers to feel welcome and interactive. This makes the experience for the customer or Fan way more valuable to the business than just a simple ad. So keep this in mind and look around at other great pages and try to duplicate that social community feel. It will be well worth it.

Why Setup a Facebook Fanpage?

Posted In Fanpages | No comments

When I first got involved with Facebook fan pages  it was in order to set up a page for my personal blog. I really had no idea what it would lead to and the only reason I really did it was because I had read that it was a good way to get traffic and readership my blog. That is still true but I believe that Facebook fan pages can be a good marketing business on their own even without a blog or business to send them to. However if you do have an off-line business or blog there are still many reasons to have a Facebook fan page we will go over them below.

  • The biggest reason to have a Facebook fan or business page is very simple. Facebook has the highest amount of traffic on the Internet. People on Facebook spend more time on the site than any other site on the Internet. It is only common sense than that if you want to be where the people and where the traffic is and where the money is you need to be on Facebook.
  • Another reason to have a page on Facebook is the fact that it lends social proof and credibility to your blog or business. The fact that so many people are already using Facebook means that many of their friends and family, maybe even their grandmothers are members of Facebook. You need to be a part of that as well so that your customers or readers understand the you are part of their community. It is also great for blogs or websites in that there is a  Facebook box available that shows all of your Facebook followers on your blog. There are so many blogs and websites out there that when you’re looking at then you feel like you may be the only person has ever been to that site. Having a Facebook like box is social proof that others just like you are fans of this site or business. This social proof is very powerful for marketing.
  • Positioning for the future is another critical reason to be set up with a Facebook page. There is a chance that it will fall apart and Facebook will not be the powerhouse it is today are many examples of sites that were once dominant and no longer are. However, there is a chance that Facebook will get even larger and more powerful. The time to stake your claim to Facebook page real estate is now, it is a land grab. It is very easy at this point to set up a Facebook page and get fans built up through Facebook ads. This is something we talk about in our course, the fact that you don’t want to miss the boat and look back and say wow I wish I would have had done Facebook pages back when I could have got them cheap and easily. Facebook could easily change the requirements in advertising rules making it much more difficult than it is today to set up and build a fan base. In summary this idea is, Get it while it’s hot.

So in conclusion we think that if you are reading this and you have not yet set up your first fan page for business page for your blog or hobby or website. You really should get busy and build your first page we hope that our resources here on fan page commissions to help you do just that. We also offer our paid course for those of you who want to get more seriously into building Facebook pages and realize the potential for building a huge fan base along with that the marketing commissions and profits are your business website or marketing endeavor.

How To Use A Mailing List

Posted In Tutorials | No comments

Setting up and maintaining  a mailing list is a basic skill of the online marketer. The reason is very simple, email marketing works. That is the reason you get all those SPAM emails in your inbox, people are making money sending out that crap. Just think how profitable it must be to send out something to your email prospects that they actually want. If you are new to internet marketing and have never used an email list it can be kind of intimidating.

We have used the service Aweber which is a mailing service that handles all of your account maintenance and mailing tasks. They can all set your email list up on what is called an auto responder, this is a setup where you can write email messages to your subscribers and set them up to go out on scheduled intervals up to I believe one year in advance. Aweber also has all the code you need to cut and past onto your site in order to offer those sign up boxes that you need to have people enter their email address.

It is common practice to offer the visitor something of value in order to get them to sign up for your email list. It could be a free mini-guide about the topic at hand. You could offer a newsletter or series of tips about the subject. The idea is to entice the visitor to sign up with something of value. Then you can send them related content and the occasional marketing offer, you could also use your email list just to keep in touch with your followers if you have a blog or website. This also works for a Facebook  fanpage, its a good idea to capture the emails of as many of your subscribers as you can that way you are able to send them additional offers outside of Facebook.

The series of videos below will walk you through the basics of setting up your email list with Aweber. It is showing the setup of an email list with an auto popover for a blog that is still running and still collecting email subscribers everyday. We teach more about email lists on Facebook and some  of the particulars of setting up a Facebook fan page mailing list in our Fanpage Commisssions course. The videos below are are few months old but the Aweber interface is still the same. If you have any questions about this feel free to leave a comment below and we will be glad to try to help with any problems.
